Native Plants Breakfast Talk at The Gardener’s Center & Florist

Posted By Darien Admin / June 7, 2017 / , , ,

The Gardener’s Center and Florist is proud to be Darien’s local resource for home gardeners. After 37 years of years of business, and thousands of hours digging in the garden, they feel that it’s about time residents look back to nature for inspiration in the landscape. Non-native plant species require a lot of human input to survive. By using native plants in the landscape, you can expect to save water, invite wildlife, reduce pesticides, and worry less about maintenance. Native plants are better suited to our local environment, because they are naturally from our local environment! In most cases you do not need to amend the soil before planting them, water or feed them after they become established, or be as concerned with pests or diseases. This means less fertilizer and pesticides need to be used, which makes our homes and parks safer places for us to enjoy, and our waterways cleaner from all of the contaminated runoff. If all of this isn’t enough to entice you, the icing on the cake is they are just as beautiful as their foreign equivalents! For more info-www.gardenerscenter.com
