Darien Dresses Up! Museum of Darien Gala Fundraiser Celebrating 100 Years of Style
October 19 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$125Darien, it’s time to get geared-up for fall activities and enjoy a night out with friends! So, pull out your best party clothes for the upcoming fundraising gala, Darien Dresses Up! on Saturday, October 19th at 7pm. The Museum of Darien is putting on the ritz and celebrating 100 years of style, with a festive evening that includes live music by Vernie Taylor, delicious bites by Palmers Market, themed cocktails and a much anticipated exhibit of evening gowns and party dresses from 1890-1990, including designs by Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, Pucci, Diane von Furstenberg and more. A fabulous raffle supported by local merchants and a silent auction will also be featured.
The time from 1890 to 1990 encompassed great social upheaval and change—including two world wars, the 1918 pandemic, advances in technology, women’s suffrage and the youthquake of 1960s. The evening gowns and dresses on display were worn by, cared for, and ultimately donated to the MoD costume collection by women who lived in Darien. Come feast your eyes on fashion, get festive and support the Museum of Darien!
