DESCRIPTION:History is coming off the pages and onto the streets this June. The Middlesex Parish 250 Committee is proud to invite the community to the Revolutionary Road Tour on June 13th\, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This free\, self-guided event for all ages offers a unique opportunity for families and history buffs alike to explore 15 local sites that played pivotal roles in the American Revolution.\nThe tour spans the scenic landscapes of Darien\, Rowayton\, and Norwalk\, transforming the local commute into a journey through the 18th century. Attendees will experience history firsthand through engaging storytelling\, live reenactments\, period-accurate games\, and the unveiling of historic markers. All sites on the “road trip” will be open\, with greeters and historic information.\nThe immersive community experience allows families to walk the same ground as the patriots and loyalists who shaped these towns\, connecting our modern lives to the incredible stories right in our own backyards.\nFeatured stops on the tour include:\n•	The Mather Homestead: The site of a dramatic Loyalist raid where Joseph Mather was arrested and stolen silver was famously hidden in the well.\n•	The First Congregational Church of Darien: Where a minister and 50 men were captured by Tories during a Sunday service and sent off to Long Island jails.\n•	The Fitch Law Office in Norwalk: A rare architectural survivor that stood its ground during the British burning of Norwalk.\n•	Highland Farm: Offering a literal walk-through history on preserved lands.\n•	The Museum of Darien/Bates Schofield House: Tour the War Comes to Middlesex exhibition\, explore the 1736 Colonial Saltbox house with expert guides\, and indulge in a taste of history with traditional colonial hot chocolate served by The Pewter Pot Chocolatier. DESCRIPTION:For more than four decades\, the TED stage has spotlighted ideas with the potential to change the world. On Saturday\, June 13th\, Visit Philadelphia and TED Democracy return to the place where the Great Experiment began to explore a vital question: What will we build together over the next 250 years? \nAs part of this historic event\, libraries across the country are hosting satellite livestreams. As one of only two libraries in the state of Connecticut participating\, Darien Library is proud to host two livestream screenings of TED Democracy Philadelphia: Founding Futures\, a daylong symposium featuring some of the world’s brightest thinkers. These inspiring speakers will share ideas and solutions designed to inform and inspire. \nThis unique event is designed to create a welcoming space for civic engagement while offering opportunities for reflection and conversation. As a host site\, we look forward to bringing this important civic moment to our local community and hope you will join us. \nThe two sessions will be held on Saturday\, June 13th in the Community Room.
