Darien Chamber Announces 2023 Penny Glassmeyer STEM and General Education Scholarship Awards

A member benefit of the Darien Chamber of Commerce is every member, and their employees are eligible for merit-based college scholarships. On behalf of the Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation, we are proud to announce the Chamber’s 2023 Merit Scholarship Award Recipients: Brennan Moore and Jacob Hardy. Brennan’s father is a Partner at Carta, McAlister & Moore, LLC and Jacob’s mother is a Sales Associate at Darien Toy Box.

Brennan Moore, Darien High School Class of 2023, is The Penny Glassmeyer STEM Scholarship awardee. In the fall, Brennan will be attending Georgetown University, majoring in Human Science. Among many things, Brennan is a Post 53 volunteer where he served as President this past year. He plans on studying Human Science.

Jacob Hardy, Darien High School Class of 2023, is the General Education Scholarship awardee. Jacob will be attending Claremont McKenna College in California this fall concentrating on Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Jacob holds leadership in the Youth Community Fund and The National Honor Society.

High School Seniors, College students or Graduate students from all communities who either work or have a relative that works for a member of the Chamber may apply for either of the two merit-based Chamber scholarships. The STEM scholarship in honor of Penny Glassmeyer for her continued devotion to the town of Darien and long-standing support of the Chamber of Commerce’s scholarship program. The Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation also funds scholarships to four Darien High School students annually. These awardees are chosen by a DHS Scholarship committee.

The Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation is the Chamber’s fundraising arm, a separate 501(c)3 set up to support and facilitate programs that enrich the quality of life in Darien. The DCCF’s major initiatives include the Darien Chamber College Scholarship Program and the Holiday Lights Program which enables the Chamber to decorate Darien’s lamp posts during the holiday season… a beautification effort bestowed upon our community and provided by the Chamber for over 15 years.
