RULES:

  • All vendors must be present from 10am to 5pm all 3 days.
  • The Chamber obtains town permits, ensuring that parking regulations, zoning restrictions and restrictions against obstructing the sidewalk are not enforced during the sidewalk sales. The Chamber ensures the event, and our liability insurance only covers pre-registered participants.
  • Only registered participants are covered by these permits, the town will not allow outside sales by stores or other vendors who decide to take part without going through the registration process. dcc is required by Darien police and Darien planning & zoning to shut down any non-complying SWS vendor.
  • You are not allowed to change or arrange locations without prior consent, in doing so will result in expulsion from the sales.
  • A participating business is only allowed to promote that same business from the outside of their location or tent. If another business is promoted outside, that business will have to pay the full participation fee.
  • Only the DCC can give permission for any company, non-profit or individual to exhibit or be involved in Sidewalk Sales.
  • In the week before and on the days of the Darien Sidewalk Sales, the wording “Sidewalk Sales” can only be used by paying participants. If a merchant uses this terminology in any signage outside or inside their Darien location, (whether a chamber member or not) implies participation in this town-wide event coordinated by the Chamber and therefore must pay the fee.
  • Every SWS merchant is to provide a trash can outside at their shopping area and placement based on availability. No requests to supply you a trach can please.
  •  The Darien Chamber of Commerce provides all permissions, permits and promotions (except for food, click for form here).
  • If you are selling or handing out food, you must submit a permit to the health department at Darien Town Hall.

REGISTRATION DETAILS

APRIL 1 - 14 Members only & Youth (14-19)
• Registration for Chamber members only. Members will have a two-week priority registration period to sign up and pay. If you do not have a store front, this will be a first come, first serve basis for you!
• Retail vendors (or those offering items, services to sell) will get priority over informational-only vendors.

APRIL 15 Non members
• Registration will open to non-Chamber members and will be collected on a first come, first serve basis for everyone from this point forward.

After the dedicated spots are taken, a wait list will be implemented. Because the spots are limited this year, it is important to register asap!

Retail vendors (or those offering items, services to sell) will get priority over informational-only vendors

MAY 1
• At this time, we should have a good idea what the available space looks like downtown and will contact you for payment if you have been placed on the wait list.

We appreciate everyone being patient during this process as we are dealing with a lot of unknowns due to the construction and timing. It is our goal to give everyone an ideal location but members, retailers and those who register first will have priority.

If you would like to donate the space in front of your store to a vendor for 3 days, please contact execdirector@darienctchamber.com
